玩物喪志 that's what I've been doing lately...
ok, what’ve I been doing lately?
Busy!!! besides taking care of the 2 precious,
I’ve been trying to configure something…
see, I’m very bored with my ever-running-out-of battery garmin-asus a10, (ya, I know, old phone, damn old phone, right? In the past, a phone bought in 2011 is not considered OLD, but then, in this century, it is!)
and I’m also bored with my very old ipod touch gen-2, yes, besides using it to listen to songs, nothing else I can do, damn @apple LO!!! no apps supported for any iOS below 4.3…
Plotting graph
I tried several Linux software for plotting the graph. These are some of my summaries of review.
The graph is not in Cartesian form. But very convenient and easy to define the equations.
Very difficult to prepare the graph and difficult to manipulate the graph. Need a lot of commands.
Similar to Gnuplot, can use the table form as the data. Can work with ods and excel files. Can use latex to add the label. Can define the function of graph easily. Much more better than Gnuplot. But the graph is not the Cartesian form.
Some Linux audio players
Recently, I tried Audacious. It is too nice. Banshee and Rhythmbox, both of them are storing the audio files as in the library, but Audacious just uses simple playlists. Rhythmbox allows the users to create playlist too, yet it is not as simple as Audacious, which allows us to sort the playlist easily, and using shortcut key to queue the songs we want to listen.
Recently I also found that OSD Lyrics is just wonderful, which allows me to replace what I need in TTPlayer (千千静听). Because TTPlayer is built for Windows only, and works badly in Wine. OSD Lyrics is able to download the lyrics and display the lyrics. It is actually a standalone tool which can work with other audio players, such as Amarok, Banshee, Rhythmbox, and Audacious.
VirtualDub and other video editing software (Linux)
I was using VirtualDub. It is the best (for me). I can simply mark the part of the video that I want to remove, or copy, or move, or duplicate. Moreover, with the plugins, I can also add the subtitles, overlay, and other effects on the video. Though there are less wonderful 3D effects like other software, it is very easy and good to use. There are some limitations, such as it can only load the AVI files. However, codecs of the video is based on what we have installed on the Windows. Thus, we can encode to the smaller size AVI with the codec such as Xvid. There is modified version, VirtualDubMod, yet I still prefer VirtualDub. Another problem is that VirtualDub is only available on Windows. Though, we can use Wine to run VirtualDub smoothly. However, we needs to install the codecs that we need to Wine, so that VirtualDub is able to use the codecs. Because I am using Linux, so I am looking an alternative that can work like VirtualDub. I tried some software. The followings are my little comments on the tested software.
Two Linux distributions live media that pendrive should install
I got one 2G pendrive. If I don’t store something useful, then it will be a waste. There are several LiveCDs (live media) available, but most of the major distributions using this live media for preview purpose only, such as Ubuntu, Fedora, Debian, Linux Mint, etc. Therefore, I am looking for some distributions that targeting on live media. There are several popular live media, such as DamnSmallLinux, Puppy Linux, Slax, Knoppix, and so on.
Dropbox and Ubuntu One
Dropbox, a very popular file sharing service, cross-platform including web-based. I like it. Installed in Linux and Android device. If you don’t know this, you should register one and use it. Store some of your useful data to the cloud. In order to avoid the security hole like this, I didn’t put any important data to the cloud.
Another similar service is Ubuntu One. I registered it when I was using Ubuntu. But after I changed to Arch Linux, Ubuntu One wasn’t listed in the official repository. That is why I use Dropbox. But today, I just found that now it is in the official repository. Sign in with my previous account, everything works fine. Yeah, Ubuntu One also support mobile device and Windows. How great it is.
Android game: Third Blade
Most of the Android games from Com2uS and and GAMEVIL are my favourite. Because of the gameplay style and the Japanese RPG-like graphics.
Third Blade. Very nice slash game. Not like Demon Hunter, no need to jump here and there, just slash. No need to manage the items, because dropped items are just coins and runes. The shops are easy, buy only. Though the story is extremely short, the gameplay is very good. This is because collecting the coins is the main way to make the main character become stronger. The character experience is quite disappointed, because the highest level is 30.
[Solved] FreeFileSync crash in Linux when syncing
My favourite app, FreeFileSync, in Linux version, normally will crash during syncing. The reason is not really known, only know that it is related to gtk+ or gtkmm. That means, FreeFileSync is not able to solve the problem.
So, normally, I need to sync several times, around 2 or 3 times to complete the syncing. First syncing will suddenly crash the application. Then I need to sync again, because the first syncing is not yet complete, there are some more files need to be synced. Sometimes, second time also crash, that is why I need do the syncing about 3 times.
Mega Jump
Mega Jump, though the character is not cute, and actually quite ugly, the gameplay is quite addicting.
The jumping feature is very enjoying and stress relieving. Because the character is boosting as high as possible. And the sound effect is also delighting.

Another addicting factor is the collection of MP (Mega Points). These points can be used to unlock new characters, upgrading the power items, and wallpapers. Collecting these points isn’t difficult, just get 100 coins in a gameplay, you will get 10 MPs.
Ooh... so, I found the culprit!
ok, that’s how it goes, for some reasons,
mm… I guess, it’s after Dropbox apps is updated on my android, (garmin-asus A10)
something bad happened to my phone,
I failed to get into “accounts & sync” all the time, eversince…
but then, I didn’t know what happened yet,
and I was trying to figure out why, tried this, tried that,
at first, I thought it’s because I uninstall some google apps…
